American mezzo-soprano Lauren Kelly is known for her versatility, ranging in style from baroque to contemporary, both as a soloist and as an ensemble member. She is a core member of the Grammy-award winning new music choir The Crossing. A devotee of Bach, she is excited to join Colorado Bach Ensemble as both a soloist and ensemble member this season, and has received praise as a soloist for performances with Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Calyx Ensemble in Chicago. She is fortunate to sing regularly with Montana’s premiere professional choir, Roots in the Sky, which allows her the dream of singing baroque and contemporary music in the mountains. Other appearances this season include Variant 6, Baroque Music Montana, Stare at the Sun, and a Carnegie Hall solo debut in Gabriela Ortiz' "Can We Know the Sound of Forgiveness". Past operatic roles include Irene (Theodora) and Meg (Falstaff). When not singing, she is most likely hiking with her rescue dog or traveling around the country. Lauren received a BM in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College and an MM in Voice and Opera from Northwestern University.
